Where is Cara Cara jewelry made?
Cara Cara is based in Austin, Texas, where many of our pieces are designed and handmade in small quantities. We also thoughtfully source distinctive stones, beads, pendants, and components from artisans and makers around the world to create jewelry that feels collected, personal, and anything but ordinary.

Is all Cara Cara jewelry handmade?
All Cara Cara pieces are designed and assembled by hand, using a mix of natural stones, freshwater pearls, glass beads, vintage and antique-inspired elements, and other unique materials. Because of the nature of our materials and process, no two pieces are always exactly alike—and we think that’s part of what makes them special.

Are your pieces one of a kind?
Many Cara Cara designs are one of a kind or produced in very limited quantities. When a product is truly one of a kind or cannot be recreated once sold, we’ll note that in the product description.

Why are some Cara Cara pieces available in such limited quantities?
We often design around materials that are difficult to source again—from unique natural stones and handmade beads to vintage, antique, and artisan-made components. Rather than mass producing our jewelry, we embrace the limited nature of these materials.

Will my jewelry look exactly like the photo?
Very closely, but natural stones, pearls, handmade glass, shells, and other organic materials may vary slightly in color, shape, texture, or pattern. These variations are not imperfections—they're part of what gives each piece its individual character. 

What materials do you use?
Materials vary by design and may include gold-filled, gold vermeil and gold-plated components, sterling or silver-tone metals, freshwater pearls, natural and semi-precious stones, crystal, glass, shell, ceramic, bone, and other distinctive elements. Specific materials are listed on each product page whenever available.

What is the difference between gold-filled, gold vermeil, and gold-plated jewelry?
These are different methods of creating a gold finish. Gold-filled jewelry contains a substantial bonded layer of gold over a base metal, while gold vermeil uses gold over sterling silver. Gold-plated pieces have a thinner layer of gold applied over another metal. Because Cara Cara designs incorporate a variety of materials, you'll find the specific composition listed with each piece.

How should I care for my Cara Cara jewelry?

• Polish regularly: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently polish jewelry and restore its shine. Warm soapy water
• Warm soapy water: For a deeper clean, soak your pieces in warm water with mild soap, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

Can I layer Cara Cara jewelry?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it. Many of our necklaces are intentionally selected and designed to work beautifully together. Mix lengths, textures, stones, metals, and even pieces from Cara Cara and A Little Touch of Grace to create a combination that feels completely your own.

What is A Little Touch of Grace?
A Little Touch of Grace is a collection designed by Ginger's grand-daughter, Grace. This collection within Cara Cara features jewelry with a lighter, more delicate point of view. Think refined chains, meaningful pendants, soft color, subtle sparkle, and feminine details. The pieces are beautiful on their own but were also selected to layer effortlessly with the broader Cara Cara collection.

Are Cara Cara earrings for pierced ears?
Most are, but we also offer select clip-back earrings that can be worn with pierced or non-pierced ears. Check the individual product description for details.

How do I know the length of a necklace?
Necklace lengths are included in individual product descriptions. If a product includes an extender it will be noted when applicable. Because layering is such a big part of the Cara Cara look, we recommend mixing different lengths to create dimension.

Do you restock sold-out jewelry?
Sometimes—but not always. Because many of our materials are sourced in small quantities, some designs simply can't be recreated. If you fall in love with a one-of-a-kind or limited-edition piece, don't wait too long. Please contact us if you see a piece and would like for us to restock an item.

Do you offer custom jewelry?
We love creating pieces that feel personal! In fact we have numerous private clients and have created pieces for bridal parties. Please contact us to inquire about custom designs or modifications, and we'll let you know what's possible.

Do you offer gift cards?
Yes. Cara Cara gift cards are a wonderful option when you want to give something special while letting her choose the piece that feels most like her. Gift cards are available for purchase online.

How quickly will my order ship?
Once you place an order we will process the order immediately. Shipping time will depend on the method of shipping selected at checkout. Once your order ships, you'll receive confirmation and tracking information by email.

What is your return or exchange policy?
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
